Even as a toddler Marcy loved horses more than anything else.  Her mom says she was riding before she could even walk.  Mostly she rode bareback as fast as she could go through the pastures and fields in rural Iowa.  Since that time she has taken a lot of steps to get where she is today.  She went to college at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, WY.  At that point she had rarely ridden in an arena and not spent much time riding in a saddle either for that matter.  She didn't even know what a lead was.  She has come a long ways since then.  During her last year of college Marcy interned for Chris and Earl Barnes in Wichita, KS riding pleasure horses.   "That was tough for me" Marcy says, "because I liked to go fast."  After graduating with an Associates Degree in Animal Science Marcy traveled to Europe to work at the Flachsberg Ranch in Schwanawede, Germany.  She rode her first reining horse  there and was hooked.  Coming back to the United States, Marcy joined Randy Paul in Cave Creek, AZ.  Marcy loved the Arizona sun and long mild winters so much she stayed and set up her own training operation in Cave Creek.  Today Marcy Ver Meer Reining Horses can be found at the Bar Double C Ranch.
